Disecting the Brief

My two designers I am doing for my information graphic
- David Carson
- Adrian Frutiger

a. Timeline
    - direction
    - type of line
    - could it be a shape?

b. Two typographers
    - consider their context
    - place
    - time and culture
    - political and social events
    - influences
    - theory or ideology/manifesto*

*manifesto - less is more? - no ornament/decoration --> not emotional --> reductionism

c. Two examples - Otto Neurath developed the first info-graphics --> an international facinated from boyhood by Egyptian --> especially because they depicted day to day images unlike Greek and Roman varzus of antiquity.

Hieroglyphs - he was always interested in visual innovation and the difference between visual information and art.
His work had a purpose.

Assignment Two - Data flow on Typographers

Today we got given our new assignment. We started to look at different types of data flow diagrams where we then discussed what we had to research and prepare for this assignment.

The assignment we need to do is a timeline of the typography history then we zoom in on two different typographers. One will be a typographer who creates typefaces and another will be a graphic designer who uses type within his designs to create interesting effects.

Below are some interesting and effective ways of organising information through a designer perspective.

Presentations on assignment one

Today in class we just listened to everyone's presentations on their chosen designer. I enjoyed listening and viewing everyone's different presentations, they all were different and had completely different information. Although I didn't fully understand and I misread the brief, I took out of everyone's presentations what I was actually supposed to do and due to this I've fixed it up for the next week.
